AI May Soon Tell Your Boss If You’re Working (or Not!)

This is just my opinion/prediction, but it seems like all of the technology will soon be available to enable your boss and your company to know if you are working proficiently on your computer.

Watching YouTube videos, playing games, or just not working efficiently?

Windows will soon have built-in technology to record detailed information about everything you do on your computer. It might be off by default in a consumer install, but businesses may have other ideas. With the information that can be collected or a similar third-party app, plus the possibility of inventing new AI functionality, businesses may not be far from literally asking their AI to answer the following:

“Which employees have not been doing their work efficiently in the last 6 months? Provide a list of the bottom 10%, including the top 10 activities they were doing instead of work.”

If you thought companies were monitoring everything before, we may be in for a whole new level of monitoring.

Would the AI know what you should be doing? Perhaps if, by job title, they defined the expectations of those staff, AI may have enough information to determine if an employee was working efficiently.

AI will offer us amazing wonders but also some interesting concerns, like whether that summary will be accurate. Will the business make decisions based on that data without checking the details?

Currently, the Windows feature for saving screen shots and finding activity requires a CoPilot PC, but perhaps that will change in the future. It would be relatively easy for a third-party app to provide similar monitoring even if Windows never did, so don’t blame Windows. But it might be making this a lot easier to do in the future.
